Payment collection with split settlement
A payments platform for Nigerian businesses: hosted checkout, shareable payment links, a REST API, and subaccount routing that splits a single payment across multiple parties.
The problem
A solo seller wants a link they can paste into a WhatsApp chat. A marketplace wants an API and a settlement split across a dozen vendors. Most platforms serve one of those well and treat the other as an afterthought.
What we did
Built one payments core and exposed it three ways, as a payment link, a hosted checkout and a REST API, so a merchant can start with a link and grow into the integration without migrating.
Implemented subaccounts as first-class ledger entities, so a marketplace split is computed and recorded at transaction time rather than reconciled afterwards.
Signed every webhook and made delivery retry with backoff, because a merchant's fulfilment logic is only as reliable as the event that triggers it.
Isolated the checkout surface into its own deployable, keeping the PCI-sensitive path small, reviewable, and separately releasable.
Automated next-day settlement to merchant bank accounts on a scheduled payout run.
Outcome
Live at a transparent 1% + ₦100 per transaction capped at ₦2,000, with no setup or monthly fee, serving solo sellers through to split-settlement marketplaces.
